On December 31st , 2019 over 120 farmers of the orchards sector, researchers in this field as well as in post-harvest, people from the regional Ministry of Agriculture, came to discussion on the future of the “fruit industry” in the Galilee, which is the Israeli fruit Barn and supply fruits all over Israel and abroad. Pruning is a serious question they are dealing with as well as a large quantity of fruit-wastes on farms and in the packing-houses.

Presentation dealt with those aspects as well as with the needs, from ecological and economical aspects to find ways of utilising the wastes and finding uses for the pruning branches that can NOT be burned, because of regulations.

Researchers from MIGAL gave some explanations on research that is going on concerning better cultivation of orchards, as well as some innovative approaches to fruit-branches uses that is now supported by Horizon 2020 project.
